ECHO readers share their favourite Liverpool Chinese restaurants

Liverpool is set to welcome the Year of the Rabbit on Sunday as the city celebrates Chinese New Year.

Here in Liverpool, we are spoiled for choice when it comes to Chinese restaurants and takeaways. The city is home to one of Europe's oldest and largest Chinese communities, with plenty of restaurants offering traditional Chinese cuisine.

This week, the ECHO published a list of our favourite Chinese restaurants, which ranged from delicious banquets to mouth-watering takeaways. After we posted the list on our Facebook page, many people shared their favourite restaurants with us in the comments section, which we've rounded up below.

With Chinese New Year on Sunday, January 22, it's the perfect time to support the incredible Chinese restaurants located in Liverpool and the surrounding areas. Take a look at some of our readers' suggestions below. You can also share some of your favourites in the comments section.

Friendly House

Friendly House is located in Hunts Cross and was a popular choice with readers, who praised the takeaway on our Facebook page. The takeway can be found on Hillfoot Avenue and also offers vegetarian options. Alan commented: "The Friendly House in Hunts Cross, best chippy in Liverpool, spotless, staff so friendly and portions are massive and delicious. Kathrine added: "Highly recommend The Friendly House in Hunts Cross."

Nine Dragons

Situated in Aintree, Nine Dragons offers diners the option to eat in or order a takeaway to enjoy at home. The restaurant boasts an extensive menu of traditional Chinese dishes. Siobhan said: "How is the Nine Dragons Aintree not on here?" Another fan, Marie, commented: "Why isn't the Nine Dragons on here?"

Sans Café

Sans was opened around the 1970s by Tseng Chikha from Sichuan, China. He was known locally as San by his loyal customers. Sadly, Tseng died in 2014, but his partner Lin has continued to cook up delicious traditional dishes.

The menu includes dumplings, chop suey roll, savoury cakes, chow mein and special curry. Sans Café has received glowing reviews from both ECHO reporters and readers. Lee said: "Sans Café is one of the best." Kate added: "Used to go to Sans Café on a Sunday before we went to the Heritage Market."

Stewart wrote: "Lovely Lin who owns Sans Café, heart of gold." Danielle said: "Totally agree, this is the best Chinese ever. Lin is an amazing person and cook and she is so friendly, love going here for food."

Phoenix Palace

Located along a busy stretch of West Derby Road in Tuebrook, Phoenix Palace is somewhat of a hidden gem. One ECHO reviewer described it as serving 'pound for pound the best Chinese food in Liverpool.'

The Peking-style Chinese restaurant serves up impressive banquets and has a bring your own bottle policy. The restaurant also proved popular with our readers on Facebook. Gary said: "Phoenix Palace in Tuebrook on this list I highly recommend. One of the best salt and pepper ribs around. Never had a bad meal from there in over 10 years."

North Garden Restaurant

North Garden is a family-run restaurant which is located in the centre of Liverpool's Chinatown and has been serving generations of families for over 30 years. Diners can enjoy traditional Chinese and Cantonese cuisine, with an extensive menu of dishes to choose from. On Facebook, Sharon suggested the restaurant and wrote: "North Garden should be on this list."
