More Assembly seats to be reserved for SCs, STs in Assam

EC Assembly Lok Sabha Assam The Election Commission Commission

The Election Commission on Tuesday published the draft delimitation proposal for Assam by keeping the number of Assembly and Lok Sabha seats unchanged but increasing the number of Assembly seats reserved for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

The Census figure of 2001 was considered for the delimitation exercise, a statement issued by the EC said.

Assam has a total of 126 Assembly seats and 14 Lok Sabha seats.
