Eberechi Eze lauds Michael Olise quality as Crystal Palace winger racks up another assist

Eberechi Eze was not surprised by the quality of Michael Olise’s cross, after he headed Crystal Palace into the lead in their 1-1 draw at high-flying Brentford on Saturday.

Since the start of the 2020-21 season, Olise’s 22 Premier League assists are more than any other player aged 21 or younger.

With Palace’s star forward Wilfried Zaha still sidelined through injury, Olise’s creativity has been vital for manager Patrick Vieira’s struggling side.

“Obviously I know Michael’s quality, and he can put the ball where he wants it when he cuts inside,” said Eze. “I was in the right position, and you know his quality.

“He wants to come on his left foot and either he shoots or crosses, so just being the right space helps.”

Olise and Eze had combined well for the opener, but Vitaly Janelt’s last-gasp leveller earned Brentford a valuable point.

Asked how scoring such a late goal feels, the German replied: “Amazing — sometimes you can’t describe how good that feeling is.

“A late goal always feels like a win, but it’s just a point. It wasn’t the best day for us in general, but, even if it’s not the best day, I think it’s always possible to get a point.”
