Eberechi Eze injury: Oliver Glasner provides latest Crystal Palace update amid Adam Wharton blow

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has confirmed Eberechi Eze came off with a hamstring injury during the Carabao Cup win over Aston Villa on Wednesday night.

The Eagles booked their spot in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals with a 2-1 victory at Villa Park, building some momentum after claiming their first win of the Premier League season against Tottenham on Sunday.

Eze opened the scoring with a header in the eighth minute but limped off shortly after, before Jhon Duran levelled the scores.

Daichi Kamada would go on to score the winner just after the hour mark as Palace set-up a quarter-final clash away at Arsenal on the week commencing Monday 16 December.

Glasner takes his side to Wolves on Saturday in a huge game towards the bottom of the Premier League and stressed it was “too early” to know whether or not Eze will be involved.

“Ebs is too early,” said the Eagles boss.

“He wanted to [come off]. He signalled to us. He said it wasn’t possible to continue.

“I hope that it’s not too serious but I don’t know. It’s not the best information that I got today that Ebs had to leave the pitch.”

Midfielder Adam Wharton was also forced off in the first-half but Glasner is “positive” the England international has not suffered a serious issue, as he continues to manage a groin injury.

“With Adam, I’m very positive because it’s nothing new,” he added.

“I have spoken about it many times – he’s had this groin problem for months.

“We thought that needed a break today but yesterday he gave me the thumbs up that he was fine.

“We did it well against Tottenham, so we wanted to keep most of the team. Ismaila Sarr [was left out] because he had so many sprints against Tottenham.

“We were a little bit concerned he could get an injury, so that’s why he was on the bench.

“It was a great team performance.”
