Online resale giant Ebay has recently unveiled a new feature on its app called 'Shop the Look', designed to offer customers a personalised shopping experience based on their individual style preferences. This innovative addition utilizes generative AI technology to curate a carousel of inspirational outfits tailored to each user's shopping history.
The 'Shop the Look' feature aims to provide users with recommendations that evolve alongside their personal style and current fashion trends. By incorporating both new and pre-owned apparel as well as luxury items, Ebay offers shoppers a wide range of inventory and selection to choose from, with the goal of seamlessly integrating new pieces into their existing wardrobe.
According to Ebay, the introduction of 'Shop the Look' represents a significant step forward in the company's commitment to innovation and personalisation. The feature was developed in collaboration with Ebay's Responsible AI team and RAI Principles, highlighting the platform's dedication to ethical and responsible AI implementation.
Currently available for customers in the US and UK on Apple's iOS platform, 'Shop the Look' is set to be rolled out for Android users later this year. The feature will be prominently displayed on the homepage and fashion landing page for users who have shown interest in fashion items, having viewed over 10 such items in the past 180 days.
Ebay has expressed its intention to explore expanding the 'Shop the Look' feature into other product categories in the future. The platform aims to enhance the feature with additional personalisation elements over the coming year, further improving the shopping experience for its users.
