Eating all meals before 3pm - and fasting for at least 14 hours every day - helps people lose weight and boosts overall health, a new study has suggested. An expert reported the findings after reviewing 250 studies on diet and time-restricted eating.
This time-restricted eating is closer to how our hunter-gatherer ancestors would have eaten, the Daily Record reports. The studies reviewed included one suggesting eating between 6am and 3pm and then fasting for 15 hours works best with our natural body clock.
The research, presented at the European Congress on Obesity in the Netherlands, showed eating earlier also boosted healthy gut bacteria, which affects overall health.
