EASYJET has spoken out after police were called to remove a passenger from a flight while it was on the runway of Glasgow Airport.
We previously reported that flight EZY888 from Glasgow to London Gatwick returned to its gate where it was met by cops who escorted the traveller from the tarmac.
Now, Easyjet has confirmed that the traveller was ejected for acting disruptively and staff dealt with the situation as they had been trained to do by the airline.
An Easyjet spokesperson said: "A flight from Glasgow to London Gatwick today, September 19, returned to stand prior departure and was met by police due to a passenger behaving disruptively onboard.
"Once the passengers left the aircraft, the flight continued to London Gatwick.
“Our cabin crew are trained to assess all situations and to act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other customers is not compromised at any time.
"We take these incidents seriously and do not tolerate disruptive behaviour onboard.
“The safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is always easyJet's highest priority.”
A passenger told the Glasgow Times that when the man was removed, it was scored by applause from others on board.
Despite the considerable police presence, no arrests were made as a result of the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 2.50pm on Saturday, September 19, 2026, we received a report of a disruptive passenger on a flight that had departed from Glasgow Airport.
"Officers attended but no complaints were made."
The flight eventually departed at 3.29pm, 49 minutes after it was originally scheduled to and touched down in London at 4.57pm.
Glasgow Airport has been contacted for comment.
