Travellers have been facing major disruption to their journeys this afternoon after a technical glitch caused EasyJet to cancel or delay flights. The airline has apologised to customers after issues with their IT systems caused the sudden disruption.
EasyJet, which operates flights from Leeds Bradford Airport, is reported to have now cancelled or delayed hundreds of flights, according to The Mirror. The airline announced that the IT issue would have an impact on passengers who were due to fly with them this afternoon and asked travellers to check the status of their flight before arriving at the airport.
A statement from EasyJet earlier today, read: "Unfortunately, we are currently experiencing IT systems issues which means that flights due to depart between 13:00 and 15:00 UK time today may be impacted. Our team of IT specialists is working to restore the systems as soon as possible.

"We advise customers due to travel with us today to continue to check Flight Tracker online or on the mobile app to check the status of their flight before making their way to the airport. We apologise for the inconvenience caused and would like to thank customers for their patience as we work to resolve this as soon as possible."
Taking to Twitter, EasyJet also apologised to all customers who had been affected. The airline posted: "We apologise to all customers whose flights have been affected by IT system issues."
But many passengers were left unhappy with the sudden disruption, with many taking to Twitter to share their frustration. RuthnRabin tweeted: "Oh @easyJet. It was all going so swimmingly. There we were, sat on board, buckled up, when every passenger got a txt alert that the flight had been cancelled. So now we're #waitingforatrain instead and £00s lighter of pocket & will be 5 hours later arriving."
Another passenger said on Twitter: "@easyJet is actually the worst! They’ve cancelled flights and won’t even tell people what’s going on and to make it worse @ManchesterAirp won’t let people out get other flights."
