EasyJet issue urgent update for passengers travelling this Easter

In the past few weeks passengers across the UK have become increasingly concerned about their holiday with the likes of British Airways (BA) and easyJet cancelling hundreds of flights each day.

Many people have been given more than a weeks notice however some have been given just days - if not hours - to be able to rearrange their plans and as a result, some have missed out on their holiday.

It comes as dozens of UK flights were cancelled today (Monday April 11) as airlines continue to struggle with staff shortages due to covid and other factors.

BA axed around 64 domestic and European flights combined to or from Heathrow affecting Scottish routes such as Aberdeen and Edinburgh whilst easyJet have cancelled at least 25 flights to or from Gatwick, affecting some Glasgow routes.

However budget airline easyJet have now issued a fresh warning to customers that are set to fly with them soon amid their delays.

In an update by easyJet Operations Control within the last 11 hours, the operator said: "There may be delays at the airport security control before your flight and we recommend that you arrive at the airport 2 hours before your flight time.

"Please have your bags ready before you go through security, making sure that any liquids are carried in a see-through and resealable bag, and that any electronic items are carried separately.

"The boarding gate will close promptly 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Please share this message with any other customers who are travelling with you."

The carrier also sent an email to passengers who are set to fly with them soon with the same message.

After suffering huge losses due to covid as well as difficulties in recruitment and security after thousands of jobs were cut during the pandemic, the news of delays and cancellations comes at a bad time when airlines are trying to attract more people back after two years of lockdown and restrictions saw international travel ground to a halt.
