EasyJet flight to Turkey diverted after 'two drunk men cause mayhem'

Two passengers caused mayhem on a flight from the UK to Turkey, forcing the crew to divert today. The Mirror reported that a pair of drunk men went on the rampage on the easyJet aircraft travelling from Manchester Airport.

It had been due to touch down in Dalaman, southwestern Turkey but instead was diverted to the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki. Two Russian passengers, both men aged 48 and 39, were arrested by police when the plane landed in Greece, authorities said.

The pair were charged with disturbing the peace, disrupting transport and disobeying the crew’s instructions. There was no physical altercation on the flight, authorities said.

After the men were charged, they were released pending trial, which will take place in November. They are not obligated to attend the trial but will be represented by their lawyers.

Having arrived in Greece without a visa, they were led to a police precinct but were expected to be put on a flight to Turkey later on Sunday.
