Easyjet flight bound for Scotland cancelled after passenger rushed from plane

An easyJet flight bound for Scotland was scrapped after a passenger fell unwell.

The person involved was rushed to hospital as the aircraft was due to take off from Tenerife, bound for Edinburgh. The medical emergency took place on the runway at Tenerife South Airport on Wednesday, April 12. Passengers were led off the plane because the pilots and cabin crew reached their maximum safety-regulated working hours by the time paramedics arrived.

As reported by our sister title, Edinburgh Live, the flight was rescheduled for the next day. All customers were given a hotel room for the night and meals to cover the extra night stay and 12 customers who had been unable to board the aircraft due to weight restrictions were able to take the rescheduled flight the next day.

A spokesperson for easyJet said: “easyJet can confirm that flight EZY3202 from Tenerife to Edinburgh on April 12 returned to stand to be met by paramedics due to a passenger on board requiring urgent medical assistance. As a result, this led to the crew reaching their safety-regulated maximum operating hours and so the flight was rescheduled to operate the following day."

They added: “We did all possible to minimise the impact of the delay and arranged hotel rooms and meals for customers, however, we are sorry for the inconvenience this will have caused. The safety and well-being of our customers and crew is our highest priority.” The current condition of the passenger who was rushed to the hospital from the aircraft is unknown.
