Seven out of ten of these bookings have been solo travellers, while the rest have been single parent families.

The tour operator is extending the code to bookings made by the end of September 2023, on all holidays departing until the end of October 2024.

It has highlighted the following destinations as ones solo travellers may want to visit.

Paul Bixby, easyJet holidays’ commercial director, said: “Since launching our one adult discount back in February, we’ve seen a significant increase in holidaymakers choosing one adult breaks, so we’re really pleased to be offering this great value deal for another year.

“It’s so important to us to make sure our unforgettable holidays are accessible to everyone, so I’m really proud that we’re enabling single parents and solo travellers the opportunity to holiday their way, across our selection of Europe’s most loved hotels.

Earlier this summer Rachel Coote told of how she met now best friend Rhain Browne while travelling solo around Mexico.

The like-minded East Londoners had both decided to throw caution to the wind and head to South America in the wake of the coronavirus lockdown.

Having always gone abroad with her friends from home, Rachel wanted to stretch her wings and meet new people by joining a group of solo travellers.

"I have been on the standard girls' holiday, but I'd never been one for solo travel or going far afield," the marketing executive told The Mirror.

"I had always wanted to do that, but the people I was with weren't interested in that kind of holiday. I decided to take that plunge after Covid."
