Easy Life drummer brandishes Buckfast bottle as singer gives anti-Tory rant at TRNSMT

English indie outfit Easy Life immediately endeared themselves to the Glasgow crowd at TRNSMT - by stepping onto the stage clutching a bottle of Buckfast and shouting “**** the Tories”. The alternative band, who mix laid back trip-hop beats with indie pop stylings, arrived on the King Tuts stage ten minutes later than billed, but the crowd were delighted to see them.

Drummer Oliver Cassidy strutted out to the front of the stage with a bottle of the caffeine-laden tonic wine and held it aloft, to screams from the crowd. Easy Life then launched into hits such as Pockets, Have A Great Day and Sunday - all of which have helped to put the five-piece on the map as an act to watch.

Murray Matravers belted out to the crowd: “TRNSMT Glasgow, how the **** are we feeling? How the **** are we feeling, we good?" Turning to his drummer, he said: “This ***** has drunk a whole bottle of Buckfast for you!”

After wrapping up Sunday, and before launching into Daydreams, Matravers stepped to the front of the stage and yelled: “Glasgow! **** yeah - **** the Tories! **** the Tories, yo!”

He added: “You’re looking absolutely beautiful Glasgow. This is our favourite place to play in the world because you’re all crazy c****. It’s because you’re all crazy mother*******.”

The band then got the Glasgow crowd to carry their sound engineer Perry all the way from the mixing booth at the rear of the arena to the front of the stage - because Sunday was his birthday.

The band is not the first to get political at this year’s festival. Liverpool singer-songwriter Jamie Webster also shouted “**** the Tories” during his set earlier on Sunday.

Playing the King Tuts Stage, he described Glasgow as his “second home”. TRNSMT 2022 wrapped up with a closing set from Lewis Capaldi on Sunday night.
