The Easter break includes bank holidays either side of the weekend, which means supermarkets will have altered opening hours.
There are different rules for how long shops can open for on Easter Sunday too. They mean large supermarkets, like Tesco Extra or a 'big' Sainsburys' will be shut.
But smaller supermarkets, like Tesco Express or Sainsbury's Local, can open on Easter Sunday. Many supermarkets will be open as normal on Good Friday, but on Easter Monday they vary.
In general, if you're planning a big shop for an Easter Sunday mea l, get your food bought by Easter Saturday, which is a normal shopping day.

Below we look at Good Friday, weekend, Easter Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday opening hours at Aldi, Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury's, and Tesco.
Aldi
On Good Friday (April 15) and Easter Saturday (April 16) Aldi supermarkets will be open as normal, from 8am to 10pm. Aldi supermarkets will be closed on Easter Sunday (April 17). On Easter Monday, they will open from 8am to 8pm.
Asda
"All of our stores operate different hours so the best thing for customers to do it to check their local stores opening hours using the store locator tool online," Asda told ChronicleLive.
In general, Asda stores will keep to their usual hours on Good Friday (April 15), with some larger superstores, like Asda's Metrocentre, Benton and South Gosforth supermarkets, staying open for 24 hours, and smaller stores, like Wansbeck Road, Newcastle, shutting at 10pm.
On Easter Saturday (April 16) bigger stores tend to open later than usual, often at midday, although smaller stores will open earlier. Most Asda supermarkets will be closing at 10pm on Easter Saturday.
On Easter Sunday, most Asda stores will be shut. Most stores will be operating their usual Monday hours on Easter Monday.

Lidl
Store hours can vary, but in general, Lidl will open from 8am to 10pm on Good Friday and Easter Saturday. Stores will be shut on Easter Sunday, and will open from 8am to 8pm on Easter Monday.

Morrisons
On Good Friday and Easter Saturday, Morrisons will be open as normal, a spokesperson from the supermarket told ChronicleLive.
Morrisons supermarkets will be shut in England on Easter Sunday. On Easter Monday "the majority of our stores will be open between the hours of 7am-8pm with the exception of a few who will be open until 10pm," added the Morrisons spokesperson.

Sainsbury's
Sainsbury's will open as normal on Good Friday, Easter Saturday and Easter Monday, a spokesperson told ChronicleLive.
Larger Sainsburys supermarkets will be closed on Easter Sunday in England, but smaller Sainsbury's Local stores will be open from 7am to 11pm.

Tesco
Most Tesco stores will open as normal on Good Friday, Tesco says, although some that are usually open late will close earlier than usual. Usual opening hours tend to apply on Easter Saturday.
Large Tesco supermarkets and Extra stores will be closed on Easter Sunday, but smaller Express stores will be open and operate to their usual hours.
Opening hours vary again on Easter Monday. Often larger stores will operate with reduced hours.
