Former EastEnders star Melissa Suffield has delighted fans with her latest body positivity post.
The star, who shot to fame playing Lucy Beale on the BBC soap, shared a series of snaps of herself on Instagram, which quickly got thousands of likes.
Demonstrating how her body had changed since having son River, three, the mum-of-one told her 58,000 followers: “People change.
“We grow. We adapt. We survive. We learn. Years pass, circumstances change.
“There were hundreds of versions of you before this point in time and there will be hundreds of you after it. It’s highly unlikely they’re all going to look the same.
“So only holding space or one version of you, actively hating the others, showing them no respect or gratitude or kindness? You’re going to spend a lot of time miserable."
The 30-year-old continued: “It’s ok to prefer one to another. It’s ok to wish you had it back, and even work to find some version of it again. But remember that every you is just as worthy as the one before it.”
In an uplifting message to fans, she ended the post: “You are made up of magic.”
Melissa’s followers were quick to comment underneath, praising her for helping them feel differently towards their own bodies.
One said: “I have to admit that since I started following you I have had a different attitude concerning my body, I am happy with the way I look now. I wear what I want to wear and I feel so much more confident with myself. Thank you again x.”
Another wrote: “First time I’ve seen someone who I feel has the same body as me and it’s so nice to see your confidence and see what outfits suit your body to know how to dress myself.”
“Thank you so much for your posts,” commented a third: “They really are starting to help me see my body is absolutely fine the way it is and to stop listening to those around me who tell me I’m too fat and need to lose weight.”
A fourth fan shared: “I absolutely adore my new ‘mum bod’. I have stretch marks, a c section scar, a pouch and boobs that hang round my ankles – but I’m more confident now than I ever have been in my life. My body is amazing!!”
While a fifth added: “I think I’m a similar size to you. For years and years I’ve hated my body even though it protected my little boy, I hated how I looked. You have shown me it’s okay to be a little bigger and confidence is key! I also love seeing you show outfits so I know how to dress for my body shape. A true inspiration. Thank you!”
