EastEnders' Rose Ayling-Ellis focus of harrowing storyline before exit as fans shaken up by teaser

Rose Ayling-Ellis will be at the centre of a hard-hitting storyline on EastEnders, before her much publicised exit from the BBC soap, with fans shaken up just by seeing a teaser of what's to come.

Reigning Strictly champion Rose confirmed last month that she'd filmed her final scenes in the long-running BBC soap, sharing snapshots from her time on Albert Square, alongside: "It’s been incredibly special to be @bbceastenders first regular deaf actor. I have loved my time on the show and Frankie has been such an awesome character to play, however now feels like the right time for me to move on and I am excited and ready for new challenges."

She added: "I will always treasure my time on the show and all the incredible people I have worked with, who have supported my growth as an actor these last two years and given me so many amazing memories."

Well now it has been revealed that Rose's EastEnders alias Frankie will be caught up in a truly harrowing storyline where she is harassed by a man on a night out A preview of the upcoming episodes was shared on Twitter On Monday night, just as the soap aired its special flashback episode featuring The Mitchells.

It began with the words: "No woman should fear walking home alone," before cutting to a scene showing Frankie being groped by the stranger in a club as Rosie's voice could be heard saying: ""They don't see me as a person. They see me as a...thing."

Things get worse for Frankie when, having left the club to head home, she is then followed onto the Tube by the same man, who then sits next to her and tried to put his arm around her, with Rose speaking again to say: "I didn't lead him on. I did every single thing that I'm meant to do to stay safe," adding: "I got really scared. because he thinks it's OK.

Viewers who saw the video were disturbed by what they saw, with one replying to the Twitter clip to write: "This is gonna be a hard watch considering all the recent cases that have happened to women in this country, some resulting sadly in death or traumatised for the longest years to come."

A second reacted: "It's not always easy walking home on your own when you're fully aware of everything going on around you. I can't imagine what it would be like being deaf walking home late at night," with another fan declaring EastEnders has returned to form, tweeting: "Just aired an epic episode and already promoting the next big one. This show is back."
