EastEnders bid farewell to Peter Beale during Thursday night's episode as his exit scenes aired.
The latest instalment of the BBC soap ended with Ben, played by Dayle Hudson, sharing some very harsh words with his grandmother Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) as well as Rocky (Brian Conley).
Peter decided to leave Albert Square after being betrayed by Kathy and realising he had no future where he grew up.
His decision to leave came after Kathy lied to the police to get Ben freed from custody for Peter’s assault.
Ben went straight back and took revenge on his nephew and attacked him with a meat tenderiser, shoved Peter’s head into a bowl of water and left him utterly terrified.
Peter was understandably very angry when he realised that Kathy had betrayed him.
"I'm not gonna let this family ruin my life anymore," he told Kathy as she chased after him as he made his way to the station.
After watching the scenes, actor Dayle took to Instagram to share a sweet message.
Alongside some photos of him on set and with his co-stars, Dayle wrote: "Thank you Peter, it’s been one hell of a ride.
"And thank you @bbceastenders, it’s been a socially distanced dream," he added alongside several heart emojis.
Dayle has played the role of Peter since 2020, so has spent the majority of his time filming in the Covid pandemic.
EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
