EastEnders' new Queen Vic owner arrives as past character makes return after recast

EastEnders spoilers have confirmed a past character returns to Walford next week, as the new owner of The Queen Vic is finally announced to residents.

Linda Carter introduces a familiar face to Walford residents, as she confirms who she has gone into business with - while the character has been recast.

Spoilers confirm Sharon Watts and Nish Panesar are left stunned and furious to learn both of their offers have been rejected, after weeks of being led to believe they had a chance.

Linda was keeping their hopes up the entire time as backup, incase the real new co-owner failed to raise the funds.

But next week it's revealed who that mystery person is, as Linda's mother Elaine makes a big return and is confirmed to be Linda's new business partner.

The truth leaves Sharon disgusted with her so-called best friend, and sparks a huge row between the two ladies.

Sharon had her heart set on a return to her former home and wanted to work with Linda, so the betrayal leads to her storming off.

Linda realises her decision has left their friendship in tatters, but can they come back from it?

Then there is villain Nish, who doesn't take too kindly to his offer being rejected and being lied to about his chances.

Soon enough, Elaine and Linda are horrified to find someone has trashed the pub and it's pretty obvious who is behind it.

It comes after the BBC soap confirmed the character would be returning to the soap, with a new actress playing the part.

They also confirmed the character would be part of a new Walford family, who would live in The Vic.

Joining Elaine are The Knight family, including her new lover George Knight and his two daughters, Gina and Anna.

They don't appear in the spoilers or the pictures, so perhaps the family will join Elaine at a later date.

George will be played by James Bond actor Colin Salmon, whose other credentials include Resident Evil, Alien vs Predator, Arrow, Silent Witness and Death in Paradise.

Strictly Come Dancing star Molly Rainford will be playing youngest daughter Anna, while also joining the cast are Francesca Henry and Harriet Thorpe.

TV and stage favourite Harriet is replacing former cast member West End actress Maria Friedman in the role of Elaine.

Harriet's TV credentials include Absolutely Fabulous, Hollyoaks, The Bill, French and Saunders, Endeavour and Doctors.

Show boss Chris Clenshaw recently teased the arrival of the new family, as the soap's Executive Producer said: "The arrival of the Knights brings a new dawn to Albert Square.

"George Knight is a charming rogue and an old-school gent who dotes on his two daughters, Gina and Anna. George will take up residence in The Queen Vic when he joins his beloved Elaine, a powerhouse of a land-lady who knows just how to have fun.

"The couple will be joined by feisty, determined and demanding Gina, who is as sharp and cool as cut diamonds but with a temper that blazes like fire, whereas younger sister, Anna is fun, loveable, and big-hearted, but don’t underestimate her.

"George, Gina and Anna have been bound together for years and arriving in Walford is the fresh-start the Knights are looking for. We’re thrilled to welcome this hugely talented group of actors; Colin Salmon, Harriet Thorpe, Francesca Henry and Molly Rainford who will be immediately thrown into the heart of the Square, and we can’t wait for everyone to meet them."

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
