EastEnders ’ Maisie Smith has hinted soap fans' questions will be answered as she returns as Tiffany Butcher.
The 20-year-old actress is reprising her role on the BBC One soap just three months after she made a dramatic exit from the show, with viewers seeing her leaving Albert Square carrying just a suitcase.
Earlier this year, it was reported she would be making her way back to Walford for one episode, as Tiffany reunites with her ex-husband Keegan Baker - played by Zack Morris - as part of his exit storyline.
During an appearance on the BBC show Morning Live on Monday, Maisie was quizzed by host Kym Marsh on her return to EastEnders, but the former Strictly Come Dancing star remained coy over the details.
“I feel like no matter what I say I'm going to get in trouble. But what I can say is that I'm hoping that a few unresolved storylines will finally be answered,” she cryptically told ex-Coronation Street star Kym.
Maisie, who has played Tiffany Butcher since she was six years old, made her final appearance on the soap in December, when her character was seen desperately trying to reunite with her estranged husband Keegan.
As she planned on leaving Walford, Tiffany wrote the love of her life an emotional letter, as she asked him to meet her at the train station so they could start a new life together.
However, her meddling brother Liam swapped the letters, leaving Keegan opening signed divorce papers rather than Maisie’s heartfelt letter.
The cruel joke meant Keegan failed to meet his former wife, and a heartbroken Tiffany left Walford.
According to The Sun on Sunday, EastEnders bosses felt her character had “unfinished business” with Keegan, and wanted to give viewers a much-needed “resolution” before Zack Morris left.
“So they decided to ask her back for one episode. Viewers will have to wait to see if they manage to fix their relationship or whether the bad blood that we’ve seen between them continues,” a source revealed.
Zack, 23, has played Keegan for five years, and announced he would be leaving the show to give his on-screen character “some well-earned rest”.
“This show has quite frankly changed my life for the better. It will always hold a real loving place in my heart,” he said in a statement.
