EastEnders legend Ross Kemp teases Grant Mitchell comeback 'for the right price'

EastEnders legend Ross Kemp has hinted he could be open to making a return to Albert Square on the BBC soap.

The TV star first found fame back in 1990 when he played hardman Grant Mitchell on EastEnders up until his exit in 1999.

However, it seems the 57-year-old wouldn't turn down returning as he’s said you can’t rule anything out.

The soap star has turned to documentary-making of late, but when asked by Loose Women’s Carol McGiffin if he missed acting he said: “Is it missing me is the question. My age? Rule out nothing.”

Carol replied: “What about EastEnders? If they said, 'Please come back', what would you say?”

Ross replied: “How much? As long as it was enjoyable, I'd do it.”

This comes after Ross last year admitted that he has been ‘missing acting’ since working on documentaries in the years since his soap exit.

He said: “I miss acting sometimes. I miss the jokes and the camaraderie. You can never say you’ll never do something again, so it would be remiss of me to say I’d never go back to EastEnders.

“I’m not in a position where I can turn down work, whatever it may be. And variety is the spice of life, especially at my age.”

Despite leaving the programme in 1999, Ross has returned on occasion for specific storylines.

He returned to the show back in 2016 for a total of 12 episodes which focused on the funeral of Grant Mitchell's mum Peggy Mitchell, played by the late Barbara Windsor.

This comes as EastEnders icon Adam Woodyatt could be set to make a surprise return to the BBC soap as he is reportedly in talks with bosses on a possible deal.

The 53-year-old actor played Ian Beale on the streets of Walford until he walked away in 2020 after being poisoned by his pseudo lover Sharon Mitchell in a twisted revenge plot.

He is now reportedly being lured back to Albert Square with a deal reputed to be up to £300,000, but a certain amount of this would go to his estranged wife.

The EastEnders veteran announced his split from Bev Sharpe, 56, in 2020 after 22 years together and the couple are still in the process of settling their divorce.

A source told The Sun: “Adam was one of the highest earners in EastEnders and there’s no doubt he’d be looking to come back on at least the same amount of money, if not more.

“They’re hugely keen to get him back after the massive blow of losing Danny. The belief is that if he signs it now it will mean he has to give Bev more in their divorce settlement. But clearly the bosses at EastEnders need to know what’s happening.”

The BBC said: “Any contract talks are pure speculation.”
