EastEnders icon says it would be impossible for character to return to soap

  • Her character, Mel Owen, departed the show in 2019 after being killed in a lorry accident.
  • Outhwaite confirmed on Thursday (4 June) that a comeback is not possible, stating: “We saw the body in the bag and the zip go over her face.”
  • She made these comments during an interview with Lorraine Kelly .
  • The actress jokingly suggested she might consider returning as Mel's 'evil twin' or a 'mentally stable twin'.
