EastEnders has appeared to drop a massive hint about the identity of the person who will die in this year's Christmas special. In last night's episode of the BBC soap (April 20), one character made a telling comment that could be a clue as to who dies – and who kills them.
In February, the programme showed a flash-forward to the festive episode. The dramatic scene saw and unknown man lying dead on the floor, as Sharon (Letitia Dean), Denise (Diane Parish), Kathy (Gillian Taylforth), Linda (Kellie Bright), Stacey (Lacey Turner) and Suki (Balvinder Sopal) gathered around him in shock.
It wasn't clear whether the death was accidental or if foul play was involved, but viewers are now wondering if one of the women stood around the body may have something to do with the death. It comes after a scene involving Suki and Eve, in which it is suggested they will “get rid” of someone - “for good”.

Last night's episode saw Suki visit Eve, where she told her she loved her and said that her only concern about handing herself into the police, in order to save Kheerat, was that she would never see the woman she loves again. Eve suggested they run away from Walford, but Suki feared that would mean they would always be looking over their shoulders and expressed concern about what Nish., her husband, would do if he found out.
The pair then shared a passionate kiss, as Suki begged Eve to give their relationship time, before whispering: “Believe that I love you. We are going to get rid of Nish, for good, I promise.”
Fans are now wondering if that means Nish is the dead man seen in the Christmas episode flash-forward. Is he killed so that Suki can be free to live her life authentically? And if so, is it Suki that kills him or does Eve get involved in the murder?
Balvinder Sopal, who plays Suki, has previously teased that “anyone” could die this Christmas in an interview with Radio Times, as reported by the Mirror. She said: “There’s so many people. I think it could have been any one of the six women involved, they’ve all got a motive. I would like it to be Suki, because I think it adds an extra dangerous element to her but who knows.
“In terms of who meets their fate, it could literally be anyone. I think it could be Keanu, it could be Rocky, it could be Nish, it could be somebody who hasn’t been in the show for a long time, it could be somebody new who comes in. And I think maybe all of the women might be involved.”
EastEnders boss Chris Clenshaw previously said that the plans for the epic Christmas whodunnit have been in the works for over a year. He also dropped hints about what is to come for some of the characters, the Mail Online reports.
He said that Linda's “knight in shining armour may not be who you think”. And regarding Suki, he said that she would struggle to come to terms with her marriage and sexuality, and added: “As the year progresses, Suki will uncover truths, and have her relationships tested but ultimately her biggest secret could push her to the extreme.”
Kathy is currently loved up with Rocky, but Chris warned: “we know Rocky, he has a past, so just what will catch up with him...” And he said Stacey would “'find herself doing something she's never done before in an effort to protect her family and unborn grandchild”.
With Denise in a love triangle with husband Jack and Ravi, Chris said EastEnders fans can “expect explosive action when Jack discovers what's been going on."
