Stacey Slater is struggling to keep food on the table for her family in EastEnders but Kat Slater's offer of help resulted in a huge fight rather than gratitude.
The Slaters were thrilled when Stacey ( Lacey Turner ) returned from the police station a free woman after being accused of assault and theft.
Kat ( Jessie Wallace ) had a huge surprise for the mum-of-three after replacing the house's fridge-freezer and restocking the cupboards.
Although the rest of the Slaters praised Kat for coming to the rescue, Stacey's pride and guilt over not being able to provide for her children caused the stalwart to lash out.
Stacey accused Kat of forgetting what it's like to live in the real world since dating Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) while Kat accused her of being jealous.
Things turned nasty when Kat accused Stacey of putting her pride before her kids and arguing that even when she was "dirty poor" her boys were dressed immaculately unlike Lily Slater's (Lillia Turner) ripped uniform.
When Kat told Stacey her "kids deserved better" the exhausted mum threw her food at her cousin, leading to Kat declaring she's "on her own".
EastEnders fans agreed with Kat and felt Stacey shouldn't let her pride get in the way of accepting help from a relative.
One fan tweeted: "Stacey will wake up in the morning hating herself for how she treated Kat. But will she be able to bring herself to swallow her pride? I doubt it. I don’t think Kat’s forgotten her roots or that Phil pays for it all. I think she’s acutely aware of it & insecure too. #EastEnders."
"Yes, Kat was only trying to help, that was very rude of Stacey! #Eastenders," another said while a third wrote: "The Slaters are supposed to stick together. Kat tried to help and Stacey’s mad at her for that. If Kat just stayed away and ignored Stacey’s problems, she’d say Kat didn’t care. #EastEnders."
"Stacey is too ungrateful, I'm with Kat on this one #EastEnders," another said and a fourth added: "Stacey should not be getting mad at Kat, she was only doing something nice for her. Plus Kat is family, if you can’t rely on them in times of need what good are they? #eastenders."
However, one fan defended Stacey and said: "I’ve been in Stacey’s situation where pride prevents you from wanting to accept help from family. And I’ve been in Kat’s situation where I’ve been in a position to help someone that won’t accept it. I love when #EastEnders can make you understand both sides of the argument."
