EastEnders fans are convinced they know who Kat Slater's children secretly texted - and they can't contain their excitement.
The BBC One soap aired Thursday's episode this evening, after it was postponed yesterday due to the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, as drama engulfed Walford. On Wednesday's episode, Billy Mitchell was taken in for questioning by DCI Keeble for murdering a security guard back in the 1970s. The security guard was recently revealed to be her father.
And as we returned to the Square tonight, the fallout continued as Phil lost his rag with Kat's son Bert and Ernie for not going to bed on time whilst they were out. As he shouted at them, Kat returned and criticised Phil for being so heavy handed with them.
At the end of the episode, the twins complained to one another over how they had been treated as they were seen slipping their mum's phone back into her bag after sending a secret text.
Now fans of the show are sure there could only be one person they'd sent a message to - and it leads the way for a big return.
One fan wrote: "bert and ernie have texted alfie from kats phone, THANK YOU BERT AND ERNIE. although i hope they haven’t pretended to be her because they can’t spell for s*** #EastEnders."
"The twins texted Alfie with Kat's phone! #EastEnders," a second added, as a third shared: "Bert & Ernie texting Alfie to come back and save Kat... #eastenders." A fourth penned: "bert & ernie have definitely called alfie and thank f*** for that #EastEnders.
Another viewer shared: "Bert and Ernie texted Alfie didn’t they," whilst a sixth wrote: "The twins texted Alfie with Kat's phone!"
EastEnders aired on Friday night this week, following the passing of Queen Elizabeth yesterday.
The Queen passed away at the age of 96, with tributes flooding in for Her Majesty from across the whole UK and the rest of the world. A statement from Buckingham Palace confirmed the Queen passed away yesterday afternoon at her home in Balmoral.
Much of the scheduled programming on the BBC has been replaced by rolling news coverage of the events unfolding following the Queen's death whilst they have also planned a number of documentaries to celebrate the Queen's long reign. As a result, an episode of EastEnders - which was supposed to air yesterday evening - aired tonight on BBC Two instead.
The episode went ahead with its original content, which included Phil Mitchell trying to find a way to get his cousin Billy Mitchell off the hook with DCI Keeble. Honey reunited with Billy, as the pair shared a longing kiss, following her showdown with Phil.
Elsewhere, Frankie Lewis was sexually harassed by a random stranger who followed her home from the club, as she made an emotional and heartbreaking speech about women's safety to Mick and Shirley Carter about what she went through. Sharon also confessed to Linda that she was still in love with Phil, and wanted him back - just days before he marries Kat.
