EastEnders fans spot heartbreaking detail in flashforward scene which hints at more death

EastEnders fans are convinced more death is on the way after spotting a heartbreaking detail in tonight's flashforward scene.

For the first time in the soap's history, the BBC programme aired a flashforward scene which will take place at Christmas time. In the scene, six of the most powerful women on the Square were seen standing over the body of a as yet unidentified male whilst Sharon Mitchell leant down to check his pulse, all whilst wearing a wedding dress.

Each woman - Denise (Diane Parish), Kathy (Gillian Taylforth), Linda (Kellie Bright), Sharon (Letitia Dean), Stacey (Lacey Turner) and Suki ( Balvinder Sopal ) - could have played a part in the death, but it remains to be seen who is responsible and who has met their end.

However, eagle eyed fans of the soap have noticed a heartbreaking detail in the flashforward scene which hints more death is on the way, and that it will be happening even before the Christmas scenes air.

One fan wrote: "OMG did anyone notice Lola's photo on the bar at the end? Meaning she must of just recently passed sadly. Hopefully not right at Christmas though, especially not for poor little Lexi #Eastenders."

"WHAT AN EPISODE! So many questions! Sharon in a wedding dress?! Cufflinks?! Who’s dead?! Who dunnit?! 10 months wait!! Framed pic of Lola #EastEnders," a second added as they noticed the addition in the scene.

A third theorised: "We know Lola is dead, her picture is on side of bar. Making it likely PHIL's wedding venue. So unless Sharon's having a random wedding then she's marrying Phil, Lola has died recently, Kat might be with Alfie and ... Is it RAVI who's been murdered?"

One viewer suggested the dead body could be something to do with Lola.

"Linda looks at Lola’s picture at the end so maybe the dead body is someone to do with Lola? #Eastenders," one wrote, as another shared: "Idc who tf they killed BUT LOLA’S FRAMED PHOTO IS BREAKING MY HEART #EastEnders."

We know that Lola is set to die from her terminal brain tumour, but we are not yet aware of when that might happen. Actress Danielle Harold - who plays Lola - previously spoke of the importance of doing a storyline like this.

"It means so much to be trusted with a storyline like this – one that’s close to many people’s hearts. Sadly many of our viewers will be able to relate to Lola’s story and it’s been heart-breaking to speak to the families affected by brain tumours and hear their stories. They’ve been so amazing in sharing their experiences with me, and I’m so lucky to have them. I wouldn’t be able to do this storyline without their support," she shared when the storyline was announced last year.

Chris Clenshaw, Executive Producer, added: "It was vital for us to work alongside Macmillan and Brain Tumour Research to take on, and accurately present, such a profound and emotional storyline for Lola, one that many viewers may relate to. Danielle [Harold] has thoughtfully relayed the realities of being diagnosed with a brain tumour with grace and understanding. We hope that this storyline resonates with the audience, and that we represent it as sensitively, and accurately as possible."
