EastEnders fans shocked as past scene revealed Mick Carter's fate five years before death

EastEnders viewers think they know the cause of all of the Carters' bad luck and tragedy over the years, including a recent death and trouble with The Queen Vic pub.

More so, many linked Mick Carter's apparent Christmas Day demise to the very scene that aired five years prior.

A scene that aired in 2017 saw one Carter relative curse her family after they booted her out of the house and their lives for good.

Aunt Babe's reign of terror and mayhem came to an abrupt end after the family disowned her, leaving her to flee in the rain.

But in the scene that aired almost six years ago, Aunt Babe took a final look at the family's beloved pub and declared she had cursed them all.

She said in sinister fashion: "I hope you lose everything, and your precious pub. I curse you."

In a chilling twist, the family was hit with tragic event after tragic event after this moment - with a number of dark twists and turns.

Just weeks after, Shirley and Tina's mother Sylvie died in a freak accident at home when she accidentally electrocuted herself in the bath.

That same year, Mick and Linda's son Johnny was accidentally shot and then the ambulance he was in crashed on the way to the hospital.

He did survive, but that same year, not long after Babe left, his sister Nancy was run over and almost killed while backpacking in Bulgaria.

Nancy returned to Walford in 2021 and was again almost killed when she was run over, this time by her own sister Frankie.

Other dark times for the Carters have included Linda's alcoholism battle, Mick's mental health struggles after his childhood sexual abuse ordeal was exposed, and then the murder of Tina Carter almost two years ago.

But it's what's unfolding right now and what's happened over the past few months that have led to fans thinking the Carters are cursed for real.

With Aunt Babe's words ringing in their ears, and her hopes that they'd lose everything and the pub, they can't help but feel her curse is the reason Mick is gone.

On Christmas Day 2022 Mick appeared to drown and is currently lost at sea and presumed dead.

The whole family have been ripped apart by this and the loss of Tina just a year apart, and Linda really has lost everything.

On top of that, she faces losing The Vic and is still looking for a buyer having been left unsure she can stay there after Mick's apparent death.

Viewers have just one character to blame for all of this, taking to Twitter to suggest Aunt Babe's curse was real.

One viewer tweeted: "The impact that Aunt Babe’s curse has had on the Carters should be studied in schools. Just look at this!" before sharing a clip of all the tragic moments they have faced.

Another viewer said: "Only reason it’s misery after misery for the carters is cause of that curse aunt babe put on the family when mick kicked her out."

A third fan added of Christmas Day: "I’m still not over that episode. Aunt Babe has a BIG part to play in all of this # EastEnders," as a fourth said: "Aunt Babe strikes again."

Another tweet read: "Aunt Babe’s curse really did some damage tonight," as another agreed: "I mean all of this wouldn’t have happened if the Carters didn’t kick out Aunt Babe."

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
