EastEnders fans have been left horrified after the BBC soap dropped a hint at the identity of the father of Lily's baby.
The 12-year-old was discovered to be pregnant in shock scenes after she collapsed at a New Year's party.
The house had been subjected to a faulty boiler, leaving the occupants with carbon monoxide poisoning. As Lily was looked over in hospital after complaining of severe stomach aches, the doctors did an ultrasound and found out she was pregnant.
In emotional scenes tonight, Stacey Slater confided in her mother Jean about Lily's pregnancy, having sworn to her daughter that she wouldn't tell anyone what had happened and how the 12-year-old got pregnant.
"She can't be pregnant if she doesn't have a boyfriend," a shocked Jean said as she told her the news, with Stacey replying: "Kat didn't have a boyfriend when she had Zoe."
She was referencing how Kat was raped by her uncle when she was just a teenager, with some fans now convinced Lily might have faced the same fate from someone else in her family.
Rushing to social media, one fan wrote: "Stacey admitting to Jean about Lily being pregnant and Jean finding it difficult to accept. #EastEnders," whilst another added: "Freddie can’t be the dad to Lily’s baby!!!! They’re related… but this is #EastEnders."
Another added: "I'm sorry for Lily, but who is this idiot she's protecting? #EastEnders," as a fourth wrote: "Jean may be the only one who can get the truth out of Lily atm. They’ve had such a close relationship with each other. #Eastenders."
As their conversation continued, Jean was horrified with the thought, adding: "No, no - that can't be. Who would do that to her?," to which Stacey replied: "I know, no one's hurting her but she doesn't mean she hasn't been talked into something does it?
"The police and social services – it's a massive official investigation. They're looking into every man in our house, every bloke in her life."
Jean was convinced no one would do that to Lily, before Stacey replied: "I know that but the gossips on the square don't. This is horrible, this is horrible." The emotions got the better of them both as they cried and consoled each other.
Lily came out of her hospital room and hearing the conversation, fumed at her mum for telling Jean what had happened. She told her she didn't want her there in the interview with social services. Hurt, Stacey agreed.
Later in the episode, Lily was in tears as she started to recount what happened the night she got pregnant, knowing full well what happened – and therefore who was the father. Fans of the BBC soap were left devastated as the show appeared to hint that she did not get intimate with someone she chose to, with viewers concerned history was repeating itself.
