Netflix have announced that Danny Dyer will host a brand new quiz show for them following his decision to quit EastEnders.
The 44-year-old actor confirmed back in January that he would be leaving his role as Mick Carter in the BBC soap.
While Danny admitted he was taking "a risk" by exiting EastEnders, he told The Mirror that he felt Mick needs to be "rested".
And it seems he won't be short of work as Netflix took to Twitter on Monday morning to announce some exciting news.
The official account of the streaming giant tweeted: "NEWS: Danny Dyer (@MrDDyer) and Ellie Taylor (@EllieJaneTaylor) will host CHEAT, a brand new Netflix quiz show where contestants can literally cheat their way to a fortune."
However, followers were divided by the news and were quick to reply to the tweet.
One person simply wrote: "Wow," while another said: "that’s so fun omg."
Someone else added: "Netflix have no idea what people want do they?"
At the beginning of the year, The Mirror reported that Danny had been poached by satellite channel Sky for an upcoming drama.
The deal is thought to be worth six figures – much less than the £1million-a-year so-called “golden handcuffs” deal he is on with the BBC. But it will open the door to a raft of offers that could ultimately dwarf what he earns now.
Strict BBC rules have prevented him appearing on rival channels – which has irked Danny and some of his fellow co-stars.
One source said: “Danny has offers coming in left right and centre, and a lot of the things he has wanted to do he can’t because EastEnders have such strict rules about what he can and can’t do.
“It’s driven him mad at times and he’s now ready for a change. But it hasn’t been easy to walk away, BBC bosses have been desperate to keep him. But he’s been insistent and when Sky approached they gave him an offer he couldn’t refuse. It’s a new chapter for Dan and he’s over the moon.”
