EastEnders' Alfie Moon will be kidnapped at gunpoint in upcoming scenes.
Actor Shane Richie has reprised his role of Alfie recently, desperate to win his lost love Kat Slater back, but it seems it's not all smooth sailing for the former Queen Vic landlord as he makes his way back to life in Albert Square. In new pictures, Alfie is seen in a dangerous predicament, with Alfie appearing to be being kidnapped by gun wielding thugs.
Shane's famous character is seen with an uncomfortable look on his face as a figure donning a balaclava makes his way towards him during the night. Further snaps show him being forced to enter a black car and drive to an unknown destination.
Shane opened up about his return to Albert Square earlier this year, with him describing it as an 'honour and privilege' to return to the show. He gushed about how he was looking forward to catching up with his old castmates and excited to meet new faces too.
Of his return, he said: "It's an absolute honour and privilege to be asked back to my TV home of Albert Square. I’m looking forward to catching up with some old cast mates and meeting some new ones. The new exec producer Chris Clenshaw has been instrumental in wanting to bring Alfie Moon back with some wonderful storylines… and who am I to say no?! I can't wait."
Shane's former wife Coleen Nolan recently made headlines with his disappointment over his returning storyline. The Loose Women panellist addressed Alfie's return and the storyline that sees him trying to win Kat back from Phil.
Fellow panellist Katie Piper asked Coleen: "Don't you think Kat and Phil make a great couple?"
Coleen made it clear that she didn't think so, as she said: "No! No I'm sorry, it's ridiculous. You would not pick Phil over Alfie. Absolutely [speaking from past experience]. Kat and Alfie just go together; they've been together for years. Phil's just always miserable."
Chris Clenshaw has described Alfie as one of the "most iconic, loveable and most memorable characters in soap".
He said: "Shane Richie created one of the most iconic, loveable and most memorable characters in soap, and to welcome him back to Walford is an absolute pleasure. A lot’s happened since Alfie’s been away from the Square but wherever his floral shirts go you can expect fun, frolics and, of course, the odd porky-pie. We’re over the moon to have him home."
