An East Lothian school has gone viral on Twitter with a video shared of the whole school taking part in traditional Scottish social dancing.
Like many secondary schools in Scotland during the festive period, Dunbar Grammar held an annual end of year ceilidh to mark the end of the semester.
Headteacher, Claire Slowther, shared the video on her Twitter account and has been blown away with the attention that the video has attracted.

Mrs Slowther sat down with Edinburgh Live and told us of her reaction. She said: “Absolutely insane, every time I logged onto Twitter, like why have I got so many notifications?”
The video that Claire shared over Twitter has amassed over 5000 likes and 700 retweets alongside famous and well-known comedian, Janey Godley retweeted it saying, “So many memories.”
Claire went onto say “It’s just been non-stop messages from lots of members of staff really excited.”
It’s lovely for the school and the youngsters and especially for our PE department who work so hard at inspiring and keeping that love for social dancing. It’s a shot of nostalgia for a lot of people, Scottish social dancing is something a lot of us remember from school ourselves.”
Janey Godley isn’t the only famous person to react to the video. Strictly Come Dancing’s very own professional dancer, Robin Windsor said: “Love this.”
Alongside, Richard Coles, co-presenter of Saturday Live after seeing the video he proclaimed Dunbar Grammar School as the “Best School EVER.”
Mrs Slowther went on to say: “It’s happened every year for a long, long time as the school has grown more challenging but it’s something we have held onto really tightly that we like to do to mark the end of the Christmas holidays.”
“The kids start social dancing in PE around mid-November, so they practise.” “They have Christmas dances where we have a live band, and the finale is the whole school ceilidh where all students are invited into the games hall.”
“Obviously we haven’t been able to do it for the past few years, so this year has been the first year since 2019 and it was glorious to go back to it again.”
