A concerned East Lothian resident has spotted an apparently stolen vehicle that looks to be abandoned and banged up on the A1.
Police Scotland has confirmed that they were contacted regarding the Nissan Qashqai at around 07:25am on Saturday, April 2.
The car is understood to have been situated upon a grass verge behind the Persimmon homes estate on the A1 close to Marquette Place.
Pictures were shared of the car in the Dunbar Online community Facebook group.
One person, who wished to remain anonymous, commented on the post revealing that the car belonged to them and that the keys for the car had been stolen from their home.
Unfortunately the culprit is understood to have also removed the dash cam disc footage.
They said: “The dash cam disc was removed it’s my car.
“I only had it a week and someone came into my house and took my keys last night.”
The person sharing the pictures, who also wished to remain anonymous, said: “I just saw the vehicle whilst out walking the dog this morning, can't be sure if it was there yesterday or not, I informed the police.
“It was on a grass verge on the Old A1, just at the back of the Persimmon houses. I think it had crashed elsewhere by the looks of it.”
Officers say that enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.25am on Saturday, 2 April, police were called to the A1 at Marquette Place, Dunbar, following a report of an abandoned and damaged vehicle. Enquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing.”
