Littering at an East Lothian beauty spot has been branded 'shocking' by local residents.
A picture uploaded to social media shows a mound of items left behind by campers, including a sleeping bag and blow-up mattress box, as well as bags of rubbish and a used barbeque. Gillian, a local resident who spotted the leftover trash on Gullane Beach on Wednesday morning, said there was "no one in sight" when she stumbled upon it.
Gillian told Edinburgh Live: "It’s such a beautiful coastline, enjoyed by so many residents and visitors alike that it’s always a shock when a tiny minority behave in a way that causes damage to the environment and wildlife.

"Very sad to see on our beautiful coastal path treated like this. Hopefully whoever left all this rubbish, including barbeque, clothing, plastic bottles, etc has now returned to either bin it or take it home."
East Lothian Council says that dependent on need, they visit beaches between three times a week to once a fortnight to check for litter. Officials added: "We operate on a proactive litter removal programme during the months of May to September as required by the Environmental Protection Act.
"Each area of coastline receives something between 3 times per week visits down to fortnightly visits according to historically established need.
"Beach cleaning is also supplemented by regular volunteer visits across a number of sites and these are particularly valuable in cleaning sites up for the summer season and monitoring and recording the types of refuse that are accumulating on our coastline."
