East Kilbride pub music festival raises more than £3k for sick kids' hospital

A weekend of music at an East Kilbride pub was officially opened by former Rangers star Ian Durrant.

The current first team coach at Lowland League side EKFC joined revellers at the Westwood Bar for WESTFEST 22 - the third event of its kind.

It raised an amazing £3826 which will go towards furnishing a new sensory room in the cancer and leukaemia ward at the Royal Hospital for Children at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

There was a fantastic line-up of DJs and bands over the weekend as well as a pop-up shop from the Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity, a pop-up bar, food, treats like candy floss, face painting for children and a grand raffle on the Sunday with prizes from local businesses.

Owner of the Westwood Bar, Moira Roberts, said: "An enormous thank you to all the artistes, DJs, volunteers, staff, prize donators, Ian Durrant and, of course, everyone who came along to this event.

"On behalf of The Westwood....thank you, thank you and thank you again.

"The money raised will go towards furnishing a new sensory room in the cancer and leukaemia ward at the children's hospital, formerly Yorkhill.

"WESTFEST 2022 raised an fantastic £3826. Your generosity is overwhelming"

The bar would like to thank Coca-Cola for donating a mountain bike to raffle as well as Mrs Linda Hone for her drinks hamper donation.

There was also support from outside of East Kilbride from Balloons Glasgow and hotels in the city offering overnight stays as a prizes.
