Hundreds of senior and junior runners descended on the town’s Calderglen Country Park last weekend for Calderglen Harriers’ annual trail races.
And East Kilbride Athletic Club star John Fergusson was the big winner on the day, as he took home the 10k trophy in an impressive 38 minutes and 10 seconds, in a field of 162.
The Harriers hosted 1k, 3k and 5k events on top of the main event and youngsters from across the district, and further afield, got involved in the action on June 24.
Fergusson finished ahead of Cambuslang Harrier Steven Fitzpatrick (39:10) to take the 10k title, while the 5k was won by fellow EKAC athlete Sam Hosie in 18:51, in a field of 60 competitors.
Springburn Harriers ace Gregor McNaught (12:17) took the 3k U12 crown after finishing ahead of EKAC’s Jack McMillan (13:21) and Calderglen Harrier Finaly James McMonegal (14:05).
In the 3k U15 event, EKAC’s Ben Baillie (12:20) was victorious, with Calderglen Harrier Francis Santingeli (12:51) and EKAC’s Euan Thorpe (12:52) behind him.
And the 1k race was won by unattached runner Thomas Fraser-Moddie (3:38), who pipped Calderglen Harrier Harry Bell (3:49) to the title.
