East Ayrshire petrol price increases are the second highest in Scotland, new data has revealed.
The cost of fuel has rocketed across the country in recent months but East Ayrshire has recorded one of the biggest hikes, according to Admiral Car Insurance.
Only Aberdeenshire had a higher price increase over the last two months with both areas recording a 16 per cent rise in fuel costs (26p per litre in both districts).
The Ayrshire region appears to be at the heart of the fuel crisis with East Ayrshire having the third-highest petrol price per litre right now (£1.84). North Ayrshire ranks fifth in Scotland with £1.82 per litre.
Dumfries and Galloway along with Inverclyde and East Dunbartonshire have the joint-highest fuel prices in Scotland (£1.86). Aberdeenshire is a place above East Ayrshire on £1.85.
Conversely, South Ayrshire is listed as one of the regions where fuel prices have increased the least. Petrol in South Ayrshire has risen by 21p over the same period to £1.80, data states.
The City of Glasgow lays claim to the lowest fuel price increases in Scotland (15p) meaning the price per litre is now £1.69.
West Lothian takes the title of having Scotland's cheapest fuel (£1.48).
Researchers at Admiral Car Insurance calculated how much petrol prices have increased across Scotland by comparing data collected from April 19, 2022 to June 14, 2022.
