Early Tottenham team news ahead of Manchester United fixture as Spurs suffer Richarlison blow

Tottenham will be without Richarlison for their trip to Old Trafford on Wednesday after the striker suffered a calf injury in their 2-0 win over Everton on Saturday. He limped off on 52 minutes and was later seen on crutches post-match.

The striker is set to be sidelined for a number of weeks with grave concern about his availability for next month’s World Cup. Brazil’s opening group match against Serbia takes place on November 24. An emotional Richarlison gave further insight into the injury.

"It's kind of hard to say because it's so close to realising my dream [playing at the World Cup]," he told ESPN Brasil. "I've already suffered an injury similar to this, I hope it can heal as soon as possible, or less.

“Unfortunately, today I had this calf injury, but now it's just a matter of waiting, doing the treatment every day so that I can recover as soon as possible.”

Speaking after the match, Spurs boss Antonio Conte confirmed Richarlison will not feature against Manchester United in midweek.

“Yeah for sure he’s out against Manchester United,” he said. “He felt something in his calf and he won’t be available for that game. I think he needs a bit of time to recover.

“It’s a pity because we are talking about a player that gives us a lot of quality but at the same time also is strong and he improves our intensity.”

Richarlison will have an MRI scan tomorrow to determine the extent of the damage. Meanwhile, Dejan Kulusevski missed the Everton contest and remains a doubt for Wednesday but Lucas Moura came on for a late cameo after returning from a tendon issue.
