Eamonn Holmes' fans rush to support him over 'soul destroying' health update

Eamonn Holmes was quickly flooded with support when he shared a 'soul destroying' update on his health. The GB News star hasn't had the easiest times of late due to his continued battle with chronic pain and following the recent loss of his beloved mum.

Back in November, Eamonn told of the 'hellish' time he had been having after suffering a fall during his recovery from surgery in a bid to relieve his chronic pain. Eamonn has been suffering with discomfort for years and only discovered why last year after speaking out on his health issues.

Following an MRI scan, Eamonn discovered that his pain began when he "mysteriously" dislocated his pelvis. Despite regular physio, the former This Morning host decided to take further action into combating his health issues and underwent surgery. And on the day before his planned operation, Eamonn explained that the surgery came with a "20 percent risk of going wrong."

A week later, Eamonn appeared via video link on GB News where he chatted to his breakfast co-host Isabel Webster as he waited to discovery if undergoing to operation had had a positive impact. However, just a couple of weeks after the op it was revealed that Eamonn had suffered a fall during his recovery and had to undergo a second surgery after the accident left him with a fractured shoulder.

It was confirmed at that time that doctors had ordered the 63-year-old to rest for at least eight weeks. And in more tragic news, late last month, Eamonn shared the heartbreaking news his mum, Josie, has died.

Eamonn confirmed the sad news on Instagram alongside a photo of his mum before her death waving to him from her front door. He was then later unable to travel back to Northern Ireland in order to attend the funeral and had to watch via a stream at the Surrey home he shares with fellow TV star wife Ruth Langsford.

And it appears things are yet to improve for the much-loved star. Taking to Twitter, Eamonn old his one million followers: "Worked hard at my physio this morning. Very tiring but I've now sat on my backside for 5 hours and feel bad about doing nothing..." With a sad faced emoji, the dad-of-three added: "..... lack of mobility & depending on others stops me doing really simple things. For peace of mind I feel another round of foot exercises coming on".

In response, @wogsalg said: "I feel your pain I had 6 months of physio 2 hours a night 5 a week. I hated relying on folk..but the one thing was NO one will ever understand how awful Physio is and how exhausting," to which Eamonn confessed: "Relying is soul destroying."

Others were also eager to encourage Eamonn to 'keep going' after his upsetting message. @KellyAllen01 said: "Your excellent mentality will help the battle. Never keep the belfast lad down for long. Can’t wait to see you back on your feet and our screens in 2023." @vikki_alley echoed: "Keep going we miss you on TV."

@ladykmw commented: "Stay strong Eammon, you are doing all you can despite everything. I am completely housebound and have disabilities that cannot improve but I feel positive for you. Happy & Healthy New Year." @kathy_ek replied: "Aww,bless you, don't be too hard on yourself, being in pain is horrible." @therealsamralph added: "Go on Eamonn you go for it. Being mindful will help, you’ll get there."

Eamonn's update comes after the star was seen on crutches at Piers Morgan's annual festive party. He posed with the former GMB star for a snap and shared his delight at being able to get out and see his friends. "Big step forward for me tonight - literally," Eamonn typed. "Got myself to a Christmas gathering hosted by Piers. Felt really good being out and mixing. Better than medicine. Happy Christmas everyone."
