Eamonn Holmes gave his followers a glimpse into his working life at the moment as he made his way to cover the latest on the Queen's death. The GB News presenter has spent the last week reporting from outside Buckingham Palace alongside his Breakfast co-host Isabel Webster.
He took to Instagram on Monday (September 12) to share a snap from outside the iconic London landmark as the world's media set up press tents following the Queen's passing, aged 96, last Thursday. Buckingham Palace said Queen Elizabeth II died 'peacefully' at Balmoral, her Scottish Highlands home, that afternoon.
Appearing in a black suit and tie, Eamonn penned alongside his image: "Bringing you the subdued and respectful atmosphere from Buckingham Palace ahead of Her Majesty The Queen's funeral cortege arriving tonight. #TheQueen #History." He has since been keeping his followers updated.
That included an image of himself and Isabel in a golf buggy as his mobility issues continued to plague his every day life. " Getting around and organising the Media area at Buckingham Palace is a massive operation especially if like me u r having mobility issues. So really appreciated the ride," he captioned the image.
While the mood had, quite obviously, been sombre, this morning (Thursday, September 15) things turned rather 'eerie' as Eamonn filmed himself walking past St James' Palace, the most senior royal palace in the UK which last weekend was where Charles was officially declared King Charles III at an Accession Council.
"This is my walk to work today," the former This Morning host is heard saying from behind the camera. "Not usual, but very beautiful. If not a bit haunted," he added as he continued to move through the dimly lit path around St James' Palace. And fans were quick to share their thoughts.
@tueseday_diners_ said: "Looks eerie." @iamsarahannett commented: "You can feel the heaviness in the air." @fiona_me_paisley wrote: "Such sad times Eamonn.. looks like the peace before the storm there."
@irishdreamms replied: "So sad and also so peaceful." @rorydmackay typed: "A wee bit spooky there!" @melinapdclarke added: "Good morning Eamonn.. Such sad times.. sending love."
On his earlier posts, Eamonn was praised for his and his colleagues' coverage. @bridgeadaire said: "You are all doing a fantastic job, it can't have been easy at times, like the rest of us you are not immune to the emotions involved." @coolcrutches commented: "How wonderful to have you covering it! So sad but an uplifting smiley face to comfort the nation is."
@reginadwightdrag shared: "You look very smart @eamonnholmes glad to see you are there doing a very important job. Broadcasting history. Well done." @orladubforever praised: "No one better to do it, so professional, but yet warm Eamonn." @one_and_only_nanna_k_ added: "You are the perfect man to present this piece of sad history."
