Eamonn Holmes claims that his wife Ruth Langsford is still 'in touch' with the younger colleague Phillip Schofield had an affair with on This Morning.
Phillip, 61, announced his departure from This Morning after reports claimed he had 'fallen out' with former co-star Holly Willoughby. Since originally stepping down, Phillip has confessed to having an 'unwise, but not illegal' affair with a younger colleague on This Morning and has cut ties with his management and ITV.
In a bombshell interview on GB News, former This Morning presenter Eamonn made a series of accusations against ITV, as well as Phil and Holly. However, he did confirm that his wife Ruth was still in contact with the 'talented' runner.
After Phillip confessed the affair, ITV later released a statement to explain how ‘badly let down’ they felt. The broadcaster added that they investigated rumours of the affair in 2020, but found no evidence.
Speaking to Dan Wooten on GB News, Eamonn claimed that Phillip ‘created an atmosphere where people hated him. People would avoid him in the corridor. He didn’t look at anybody, didn’t know anybody’s name.’
Speaking about the relationship, and the young man involved, Eamonn said: "Ruth and I particularly looked after him, he never once talked to us about any relationship. But we knew he was in a bad way and he was in a bad way fragilely."
He added: "There’s an incredible duty of care that should go with that young man."
The runner, who he described as a 'lovely fella, really good talented fella', went on to work at Loose Women. Dan asked Eamonn: "Are you still in touch with the young colleague? And is he doing okay?"
The GB News presenter replied: "I'm not, Ruth is. I think life's tough for him."
He went onto claim that the young man would arrive to work early on a Friday morning from Schofield's home after saying 'overnight'. He said: "Usually on a Friday morning, because Thursday was playtime when he and Phillip would hit the town and then he obviously stayed overnight."
Eamonn alleged that the relationship was ‘known by virtually every staff member both on and off screen,’ and he asked for an investigation to be launched, before leaving ITV.
He added that the affair was 'covered up' by bosses who knew what was going on. He said: "It's a total cover-up.
"Those in authority had to know what was going on and they thought they would dodge a bullet with this which they do and they do constantly."
