Green Party leader Eamon Ryan has thanked the public for their kind words following his mother's tragic death.
According to the Irish Independent, Mary Ryan was on Inisbofin Island off the coast of Galway when an accident happened. She was taken by air ambulance to Galway University Hospital where she later died.
Deputy Ryan said that the family had been celebrating her great life and shared a photo from just the day before her sudden death.

He posted: "I would like to thank everyone who expressed sympathy on the death of my mother Mary. We miss her keenly but have been celebrating everything that was great in her life. I took this photo on Inishbofin last week, the day before her accident."
Mourners at her funeral mass in Glasthule, south Dublin included President Michael D Higgins, Taoiseach Michael Martin and Tanaiste Leo Varadkar.
People expressed their condolences to the Green Party leader.
One person said: "So sorry to hear of the passing of your lovely Mum ,she looks really beautiful and happy in that photo .no doubt her last days were full of joy .she must have been immensely proud of you Eamonn."
Another wrote: "Condolences again to you and all the family, what a beautiful happy photo. May she rest in peace.
A third commented: "Condolences Eamon and family.Our prayers for her, and those left behind."
