Eagles star Dom Sheed suffers another injury setback

West Coast premiership hero Dom Sheed has a "hot spot" in his foot and will be eased through the Eagles' pre-season.

After playing just one game in 2022 and missing eight matches this year, Sheed has again been sidelined after hurting his foot on Monday.

At West Coast's training camp in the coastal town of Dunsborough, the 28-year-old was relegated to signing autographs with his left leg in a moon boot.

The Eagles have confirmed Sheed, as well as recently-drafted forward Archer Reid (knee), have been placed on the injury list for an indefinite period.

West Coast's injury list has been the worst in the AFL in recent times as the once-proud club have won just fives games across the last two seasons.

"Both injuries will require further assessment and as part of their management Sheed will wear a moon boot while Reid will don a brace," an Eagles statement read on Tuesday.

"The club will release further details as it becomes available."

Meanwhile, West Coast's off-season of change has continued with long-time list boss Rohan O'Brien to leave the club after 33 years.

Serving in a variety of recruiting roles, O'Brien, who has made a club life member in 2017, has been at the Eagles for all four of their premierships.

"With the recent draft completed I believe it is the right time to make this call," O'Brien said.

"For the last three years we have focused on attracting the best young talent as we begin to build our list and I believe we are at an exciting juncture."

O'Brien adds to the departures of long-time chief executive Trevor Nisbett, fitness boss Warren Kofoed, captain Luke Shuey, as well as a stack of other veteran players.
