It’s never too early for NFL draft talk, and as the reigning NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles prepare for training camp, they’ll look to retool on defense in 2024.
Philadelphia adds another talented cornerback to an already packed room in their latest mock draft from the guys over at Pro Football Network.
27) Philadelphia Eagles: Denzel Burke, CB, Ohio State
Denzel Burke will be a name to keep a keen eye on in 2023. Being drafted high as a CB can sometimes come down to timing. It’s incredibly hard to be consistently great as a coverage player. Burke had a down year in 2022, but if he bounces back this year, he could cement his status as a first-round pick. Both of the Eagles’ starting CBs are over 30, and that hill can come incredibly quickly for the position.
He’d join a position group that just added Greedy Williams in free agency and had former Georgia star cornerback Kelee Ringo added to the mix.
In the final seven games of last season, Burke gave up 12 receptions on 22 targets for 101 yards — an average of 14.4 yards allowed per game.
On the year, Burke gave up three touchdowns, 332 yards, and 22 receptions on 39 targets, according to TruMedia.
