The Eagles will be without one of their best defensive playmakers when they take the field for Monday night against the Seahawks.
Philadelphia cornerback Darius Slay, who has battled a knee injury this year, underwent arthroscopic surgery this week and will be sidelined for the contest against Seattle at Lumen Field, Eagles coach Nick Sirianni told the media on Saturday.
No timetable for Slay’s return was given, but the five-time Pro Bowler is expected to return by the end of the regular season, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Slay, 32, signed a three-year, $42 million contract to return to Philadelphia in March. He has started 12 games for the Eagles this season, tallying 57 combined tackles, 14 passes defended and two interceptions, including a pick-six. Slay missed one game earlier this season due to a knee issue, so the surgery will presumably repair any injury that the Brunswick, Ga., native was dealing with.
Meantime, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was not a participant at Saturday’s practice due to an illness, while defensive end Josh Sweat missed the session for personal reasons. Both are expected to play on Monday night, per Josh Tolentino of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The Eagles (10—3) will look to stop a two-game losing skid when they face the Seahawks (6–7) at 8:15 p.m. ET on Monday.
