Eagles CB Avonte Maddox out indefinitely after suffering a significant toe injury vs. Cowboys

The Eagles are already dealing with the potential loss of Lane Johnson for the rest of the regular season, and now according to Ian Rapoport, Avonte Maddox could miss a lengthy amount of time as well.

One of the top slot cornerbacks in the NFL, Maddox is the engine that makes Philadelphia’s secondary go, and he’s a major reason why Darius Slay and James Bradberry are one of the top outside duos in the NFL.

Maddox exited the 40-34 loss after sacking Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott on the first play of the second quarter. Before the slot cornerback could be carted off the field, Dak Prescott was able to connect on a 34-yard touchdown pass to CeeDee Lamb after a breakdown in coverage.

Maddox, 26, has played in eight games this season but has missed time with a couple of different injuries.

With Maddox out, Philadelphia will likely turn to Josiah Scott in the slot, while the possible return of C.J. Gardner-Johnson could also be an option with Reed Blankenship excelling at safety.
