Eagles’ All-Pro QB Jalen Hurts to participate in off-season program after having ankle surgery

Jalen Hurts is now the highest-paid quarterback on average in the NFL, and he’ll be a full participant in the Eagles’ offseason workout program.

According to ESPN’s Tim McManus, hurts had offseason ankle surgery, but he’ll be a full go when Philadelphia reports to the NovaCare Complex on Monday.

The procedure was to remove “hardware” that had been inserted in the ankle after Hurts suffered a high-ankle sprain while playing for the University of Alabama in an October 2018 game against Tennessee, sources said. Hurts was sidelined for nearly a month before returning to play in November of that season.

Hurts previously had ankle surgery last February after the Eagles’ Wild Card round loss to the Buccaneers, his first playoff appearance.

He missed two games in 2022 with a shoulder injury, and after signing a long-term deal, Philadelphia will take steps to reduce some of the punishment he takes weekly.
