The Philadelphia Eagles have been one of the league’s most active teams early into NFL free agency, and they struck again on Thursday, further fortifying the defensive side of the ball.
The Eagles and former Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Devin White agreed to terms on a one-year deal worth $7.5 million, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
White, 26, was the No. 5 pick in the 2019 NFL draft out of LSU, and he spent the first five seasons of his career with the Bucs. He was a second-team All-Pro in 2021 and a Pro Bowler in ‘22, making 75 starts across 76 appearances. He was part of Tampa Bay’s Super Bowl LV winning team during his rookie season.
Last season, White made 14 appearances but saw his role diminish towards the end of the year. He registered 83 tackles, 2.5 sacks, nine QB hits and two interceptions in what was his final season with the Buccaneers.
White joins a defense in Philadelphia that already has added the likes of former New York Jets defensive end Bryce Huff and ex-New Orleans Saints linebacker Zack Baun, while also reuniting with veteran safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson.
