Dundee United talks with Manchester United about trying to get Dylan Levitt back to Tannadice are at "an advanced stage" after the Premier League giants agreed to sell the Welsh international.
The 21-year-old was a revelation last season while on loan from Old Trafford and voted by Arabs as their Player of the Year. Levitt returned to Manchester and immediately triggered a new 12-month contract, with the club initially looking at farming the midfielder out on loan once again next term with Derby County reportedly leading the race for a deal before Wayne Rooney 's departure.
However, Levitt is now set to make the move to the Scottish Premiership again this summer, with the Manchester Evening News reporting he could be a Dundee United player before the end of the week. The Welshman "will likely" be named as part of the Jack Ross ' squad ahead of their Spanish training camp this weekend.
Sporting director sporting director Tony Asghar has insisted that new boss Ross is an admirer of Levitt and wanted him back next term after the departure of Tam Courts. Asghar said: “We really liked Dylan last year, we’re still interested and talks are ongoing.
"He’s just got another year with Manchester United and he’s got a World Cup to aim for, to try and get into the Wales squad. Dylan is a player who fits into our system.
"He is well liked by all of the players and loved by the fans. So yes, we are still trying to see if we can do something there. Jack likes the player. When you bring a new manager in, you have to run the list of targets past him."
