Pensioners have been warned they only have until next week to submit a claim for their £650 cost of living payment.
People of State Pension age will be eligible for the payment, which is supposed to help with spiralling costs as the price of energy, food and petrol rocket, as long as they make a successful claim before the Thursday, August 18 deadline, the Department for Work and Pensions has said.
More than eight million low income households are due to get the £650, split into two instalments, with the first £326 payment dropping into bank accounts between July 14 and 31. A second £324 payment is expected in the autumn.
