The Department for Work and Pension (DWP) has warned that the first half of its £650 cost of living payment may be delayed next week. Some people may not get the cash, worth £326, on time when the government body begins sending it out from July 14, it has said.
David Rutley admitted in a response to a question in Parliament, that issuing payments "will be staggered" due to the high volume of people eligible for the support. The DWP minister said: "We currently expect the majority of payments to be made by the end of July, there may be potential delays for a small minority of cases due to their unique characteristics."
Those entitled to the payment are set to receive the first half from July 14 onwards, with the money expected to be handed out by at least the end of the month. However, some people may get it later than that - though this is only predicted to affect a small number of Brits, specifically those on Universal Credit, income-related ESA and JSA, Income Support, and Pension Credit, the Mirror reports.
