A warning of payment delays to Personal Independent Payment (PIP) claimants has been used with some struggling people having to wait months for a decision on disability benefits. The payment has been described as a "lifeline" for millions of people by Citizens Advice.
However, it said the waiting list for an assessment stood at 327,000 people between February and April this year. An average wait for a decision stands at nearly half a year, reports LancsLive.
Citizens Advice projects that payments totalling £294m that would be awarded are being held up, forcing people into "impossible choices" as they struggle with the cost of living crisis. The Government has been urged to "get a grip" on the backlog.
